Singapore Tour

Yes, it's confirmed! My bf's coming to S'pore for a visit in mid-Sept. I'm very excited & happy!! It's his first trip to S'pore. It's been almost 6 mths since we last met. I miss him so much....

I've been helping him plan this 5-day trip. From sourcing of air-tickets to flight schedules & now planning of itinerary. Planning a tour of Singapore is the most challenging task. As I have to work, he has to explore S'pore on his own in the mornings & I'll join him in the afternoons. And there's a list of "must-try" local food he wants to eat which I've to fit in somewhere in the tour. Big headache!!

Here comes my family to the rescue!! Last Sunday my parents, sis & I spent hours planning the tour together. My parents offered to bring him around in the mornings, and i'll take care of the afternoon tour. Saturday & Sunday will be a family outing to some farms in ulu Lim Chu Kang. With my parents & sister's input & support, the S'pore tour itinerary's done. Fully packed with activities & sightseeing & food, I don't even know where to slot in a time for him to meet my good friends!

I'm most touched by my family's support & enthusiasm. My mum plans to skip her whole week of yoga classes to join the "A.M. tour" & my sister might be taking time off work to join on some days. Daddy's the best! He's the "Weekend + A.M. tour-guide cum driver", taking time off from work to bring him around. And treating him to lots of yummy meals too!

Hope my bf can get along well with my family & leave a good impression despite the "chicken & duck talk" challenge. Hope this trip will be an enjoyable one for my family too!

Counting down to Sept 16.....

It's work again...

My 1-month vacation is ending THIS week! It's back to work this Friday. Oh no, my internal clock has been set to "ring" at 9 - 10am during this period. Soon it'll be back to 6am again! *sob sob* Haiz, there goes my daily TV marathon, internet chats, lazing at home. Hmm....when's the next school vacation?

I'm reading "ももこの話" (Momoko's story) now. It's about a little girl's thoughts, a short collection of essays on various topics during her growing up years. It's very entertaining, very funny. Quite a few times I laughed out while reading it on the train. I liked it so much i told my bf about it, hinting him to buy me other books of the same Momoko series. Hehehe (^-^;) It's half the price to buy it in Japan!

And guess what? This Momoko character is actually a cartoon character. She's apparently quite well-known as "ちび丸子ちゃん" (Chibi Maruko-chan). There's even a drama series based on her. She's so cute!! Now I'm searching for the anime to watch. Meanwhile, just entertain myself with the anime's opening song....

New craze, new fan?

My knowledge of Japanese songs is limited to J-pop idol groups like Kinki Kids, Tokio, V6 & my favorite J-rock band Glay. My bf isn't interested in any of those above coz it's just too "young" for him, i guess. He's into Okinawa music & singers who've been around for 20+ years. Groups like Southern All Stars (they debut around the same time i was born!) Thanks to him, now i've a wider range of songs to listen to.

My latest craze's Natsukawa Rimi. My bf's a fan of her. No surprise he'll recommend her songs. I downloaded a few songs recently & now i'm hooked! She has a very sweet voice. Check out this site to listen to her hit song "涙そうそう" (Nada Sousou).

I still love Glay. Just taking a short break from J-rock now... heehee...

Live life to the fullest!

I just watched a depressing documentary today on the "worst aviation disaster in history" --> crash of 2 jumbo jets in 1977(The Tenerife disaster). Tracing the events that led to the crash, it seemed as if everything was pre-destined. Haiz....so depressing... 500+ lives lost just because of human error. Only a handful of them survived.

Now I start to feel super worried about my bf flying to Singapore next month. It's the IMF month. What if terrorists cause trouble? Think I'm begining to behave like my mother --> overly pessimistic & worry about everything & anything! I'm hardly worried about taking flights, or safety in Singapore. But when it concerns my loved one coming all the way to visit me, I just can't help but worry...

Recently my mother kept saying "You don't know what will happen tomorrow. So do what you want now. Eat what u like now!" Sounds like an excuse to pig-out on food huh? hahaha!

I agree with her. We only have one chance to live our life. We may have planned a lot for the future, but no one knows what will happen tomorrow. So live life to the fullest & treasure your loved ones!
